Art Project "The Journey of A Rock" 1995

I would like to acquaint you with an unusual and fascinating idea and would be delighted if I could gain your interest or support.

The Art project, "The Journey of a Rock" is a venture which proposes to bring a large stone from Boeblingen-Stuttgart/ Germany, to exactly the opposite side of the globe (170 W 59' / 48 S 41'), via New Zealand. The rock will be splitted and one half will remain in Boeblingen. The other half will be brought to the named point in the South Pacific where it will be sinked.

The Art project brings together people of New Zealand and Germany and it can also prompte business interests and cutulral exchanges.

The project will begin end of 1995 and end in May 1996. It will mark the occasion of the Baden-Wuerttemberg horticultural show ("Landesgartenschau") in Boeblingen, an event which will attract visitors from all over the world.

Behind the idea of my Art project, "The Journey of a Rock", lies the desire to realise a round-the-world venture which brings together with a simple, poetic inspiration two defined geographical points and cultures of two hemispheres. The chief purpose of the realisation of the project is the involvement of the people of Boeblingen and New Zealand, as the success of the project will be increased in proportion to the number of people who are involved, either in thought or in active participation.

It will be particularly exciting that the venture will begin during the run-up preparations for the horticultural show, so it keeps people in an anticipated joy for the forthcomimng events starting in may 1996.

The whole project contains several public presentations of the rock in Germany and New Zealand. During the Landesgartenschau thr rock will be exposed on the garden area together with a documentation.

In additonen to the presentation a catalogue will be released with the documentation of the resonance in public and press. There everone will be honourably mentionend who supported the project e.g. privat persons, institutions and of course the sponsors.
